My mom always told me growing up that two days after after I was born (October 16, 1979), she left the hospital and noticed that the trees were at peak foliage. When she went in they were pretty, but when she left they were spectacular. People always ask me when peak foliage is, and while it varies from year to year my answer always remains consistent. Peak foliage is (on the average year) just past mid-October.

Last year was unique, October 22, 2011 looked like this (Shelby and Jeff's Lord Thompson Manor wedding)...

And then the following weekend looked like this (Juli and Keith's Fall/Winter Storm Alfred wedding)...

While this image has to be one of my all time favorites, this was not what Juli and Keith had planned on their wedding day. Not to mention, this image was captured around 12:30/1pm (at the beginning of the storm).

Certainly the weather predictors struggle with accuracy; I can give you my best guess (but it is just a guess).

Fall of 2011 was not the typical Fall, not just because of the storm but because I don't feel like there was a vibrant change in color. It really doesn't make a huge difference in pictures, you find the best looking tree in good light and use what you have! This is adorable Amanda and Jon from last year at Wickham Park on October 25th.
