John and Alissa's Guest Signature Book
John and I had our engagement pictures taken back in March, and I've finally had a chance to really enjoy them. I loooove them and am so excited to get in my guest signature book. Check out the layout below: clean and simple. I went with the 8.5x11 inch sized book.
All images taken by Alternate Angles.
The colors of the wedding are gray (what the girls are wearing) with accents of a light blue (see "&" below). The font used is similar to what's going to be on the invites...small detail, I'm into it.
I knew this picture had to be near the end of the book, however the next one had to be the closer!
My Shower Invites
When my mom and I were discussing the shower, of course we said there has to be lots of pictures. For the accordion style invites, my mom scanned many of her negatives from my childhood. I flipped the images to black and white, and came up with the following layout, ordered in metallic paper of course!
My mom has been walking around sharing this invite with everyone. In fact yesterday I went to get my eyebrows waxed, I've been going to Saundra at Jan Licitra and Associates for ten years now, and Saundra had an invite! After years of telling my mom you HAVE TO go see Saundra, a year ago she finally did--now she's a regular too. Apparently the last time mom went, she showed Saundra and let her keep it (a month later Saundra still has the invite with her). I nearly died laughing when Saundra showed me the invite! I called my mom as I left the office, and she then told me the florist also has a copy.
Jason will be taking pictures at the shower tomorrow, so stay tuned for more shower updates. I have to admit, I am very nervous of having the spotlight on me and I'm also super happy that I'm working a wedding today to keep my mind off the shower.
Shower Tomorrow : Sneak Peek at the favors
My mom and I have been planning my bridal shower for months now, I can't believe it is tomorrow!! The shower is at a very special place to the Dinneen family, "the lake." My parents bought property there the year I was born and we've been there every summer since 1979 (yup, I'm turning 31 soon, yikes). My mom and I are super excited to have an event there, in the clubhouse.
This past January Alissa Dinneen Photography was a vendor at the CT bridal expo, where I met Jennifer of Cookie Creatives by Jennifer. The night before the show I was browsing the vendor list, I'm a bride too this year, and ran across Jennifer's business--from which of course I had to scope out her website and fell in cookie heaven! I believe I immediately wrote a comment on her blog and let her know I wanted to stop by, and when I did she had a bag of cookie hearts for me. Yummy and pretty!
With the assistance of Jennifer and her creative process (really helped get the ball rolling), I came up with the idea for the table names for the shower to be different lake memories, and the cookie favors coordinate. Below are the cookies all together and close-ups of each of them--I made my mom take pictures of them because I'm super impatient and couldn't wait to see them!
This is for the "Bathing Beauties" Table - my sister and I were constantly swimming in the pool and lake. How cute is this bathing suit, I love the polka dots and my hot pink flowers!
This is for the "Fishing" table - my dad (Denny D) is a HUGE fisherman (bass and trout). From time to time us ladies (my mom, sister Ali, and myself) went fishing with dad in his fishing boat, in fact one of the first fish I caught (at age three) was a three pound large mouth bass. Back to the cookies, the colors of the shower are green and blue (which is why the majority of the cookies are these colors). I also mentioned that I love pink, and you'll see pink in several of the cookies.
The "Peaches N' Cream" Table - There is an ice cream store, Peaches N' Cream, in Litchfield/Torrington that has the most outstanding ice cream--in fact we're not having a cake for the shower, dessert is a Peaches N' Cream Ice Cream Bar!
The "Ski Bob" Table -- This is a two seater banana boat that my dad use to tow my sister and I around on. We loved that Ski Bob, and I loved my Chipmunks life vest that I wore when I was on the ski bob.
The "Watermelon" Table - Okay I have to admit that I really just liked the cookie here, but in effort to save face with the memory idea, we did use to pack our dinners in our coolers everyday and have dinner at the lake, watching the sunset. Watermelons are way cuter than coolers, right?
The "Flip Flop" Table - my shoe of choice, need I say more?
The "Boating" Table - boating and fishing around the lake, which we still do to this day! In fact July 4th weekend my dad took a bunch of us around the lake for a tour. Jennifer wrapped all cookies in the cookie bags, used coordinating bows, and used shimmery paper to label all of the cookies!
I love all the cookies so much, thank you Jennifer! I can't wait to see people's reactions tomorrow when they see them, and now I have pressure on me for a good idea for the wedding!

The White Dress by the Shore : The Blushing Blog
As some of you may, or may not know, I got my bridal gown at The White Dress by the Shore, since I blogged about it previously. Since that blog post (and bridal shopping experience), I've been back to the store twice: a trip with my girls and a trip with my mom. Both trips were successful and all dresses are ordered. I have to say my mother is especially thrilled with her dress and can not wait to wear it.
Beth, the owner of The White Dress by the Shore, blogged about me becoming a White Dress by the Shore bride--so of course I had to share.
This is the room where I got to try on gowns, isn't it gorgeous!!
Everywhere you look in the store is beautiful.
First Shower Gifts
I'm in on my shower, meaning I told my mother, "Please no surprises." I don't think I handle the element of surprise ever so gracefully, so I thought it would be best to be in the know. I'm excited to say that the shower is right around the corner, in September. Let the wedding festivities begin!
Owning a house already means we already have the basics, they might not be the finer things but they get us by. The first thought of registering scared me, after warming up to it a bit I've found it to be pretty fun! John and I are registered at Macy*s and Williams-Sonoma. I took some really useful advice from one of my brides, Carolyn. I loved the idea of registering for the same flatware for both the fine china and everyday dishes--it all matches.
Today our very first set of gifts came in the mail and it was such a fantastic surprise! This past weekend we went to one of John's friends house for a party, and since she can't make it to the shower she too gave us our Vera Wang Duchesse Crystal Toasting Flutes! Of course the packaging was so pretty, I had to take a few pictures.
Here are our toasting flutes for the wedding day, that also match our crystal (which I was on the fence about registering for, but eventually came to the conclusion that it will look nice with our china and we'll be happy that we have it).
Williams-Sonoma's wrapping is so pretty, clearly I had a blast taking pictures of it.
Here are some of our Apilco Dinnerware pieces. I'm so excited to upgrade from our chipped Ikea dinnerware (that I originally bought when I went to Hallmark Photography School). The bowl on the left is the Tulip Serving Bowl, it couldn't be any cuter!!
